Neighborhood Print Studio

The Neighborhood Print Studio opened in mid-July of this year. Located in a 3,000 sq foot space in the Pajama Factory at 49 Greenkill Ave in Kingston, New York it is an artistic hub that provides professional resources and a communal, collaborative workspace. We currently have 3 intaglio printing presses  (12x18, 24x36 and 42x60) that have been donated or acquired especially for the Studio. To artists we offer and facilitate: production printing on risograph (Cosmic Doghouse Press), silkscreening, etching and expanded access to our preexisting print program.

Stay tuned in 2024 for some big announcements!

The Neighborhood Print Studio is inspired and motivated by the art, activism and legacy of Ben Wigfall (1930-2017), a highly influential figure in the African-American and art communities of Kingston and Ulster County. Wigfall was the first African American professor at SUNY New Paltz and a renowned Kingston community leader who created Communications Village in Kingston’s Ponckhockie neighborhood, a community art space where he sought “a new and contemporary relationship between artists and community.” As both a maker and a mentor, Wigfall introduced the community to the power and value of art in their lives—an idea central to our own mission.

The Neighborhood Print Shop serves as a continuation of Wigfall’s efforts to provide both mentorship and art-making opportunities for the Kingston community, modeling art as a uniting force, a tool for activism and creative expression, and a pathway toward collaboration and new opportunities.
